How much does a gold ring cost?

Not every gold ring is of the same value. Numerous factors determine the price of a gold ring. For instance, consider the number of karats and the complexity and time of the craft.

The karat is an important aspect for the price of a gold (vintage) ring. In its purest form, gold metal is too soft to make jewellery. That is why it is mixed with other types of metal, creating an alloy of different metals. The karat represents the percentage of gold in the alloy. The purest gold is 24 karats. A 14-karat ring therefore contains 14/24th gold, or 58.5%, which gives it the stamp 585. The same applies to a 9-karat jewel (which gets the gold stamp 375) or an 18-karat gold ring (gold stamp 750). In the Netherlands, 14k gold is most common.

Furthermore, it is important to pay attention to the mass of a ring, heavier and larger rings contain more gold and are therefore more valuable. Another crucial point is also the design and style of the ring, does the ring contain diamonds or other gemstones? This will also be reflected in the price. Bear in mind that age and rarity play a major role as well, thus the historical and unique character of vintage gold rings should certainly be considered.
